  • Cycle 350kms across the African bush
  • Experience Maasai life as you camp one night in a Maasai Village
  • Cycle in the shadow of the awesome Mt Kilimanjaro
  • Optional safari in the Ngorongoro Crater, which has the largest concentration of lions in Africa!

At 5,895m, Mt. Kilimanjaro is one of the largest volcanoes ever to break through the Earth's crust. On your remarkable adventure you will be cycling across 350 kilometres of African Savannah with this stunning backdrop to inspire you!

You will be passing through Maasai villages, and experiencing a small part of their way of life as you travel through this beautiful landscape. The days will be hot and challenging, whilst the evenings will be spent in a mix of lodges, hotels and camps.

Your challenge takes on a meandering course through mountain villages and along roads refreshingly devoid of traffic, following an undulating trail that is accompanied by the ever-present backdrop of Africa’s highest peak and the highest free-standing mountain in the world – Mount Kilimanjaro.

Along the way are the imposing peaks of both Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru providing breathtaking panoramas.

You’ll cycle through part of the Ndarakwai conservation area, whose rich mix of habitats provide a haven for a variety of wildlife, as well as offering a vital seasonal migration route for elephants. Keep your eyes open for some of the 65 species of mammals and 350 species of birds that make this area their home.

Another challenging day’s riding sees you cycling from the Tarangire signpost to the shores of Lake Manyara, a setting that Ernest Hemingway once described as “...the loveliest I had seen in Africa”.

You’ll be following tarmac roads, enjoying a mix of savannah grassland and spectacular views out across the Rift Valley escarpment as you approach the lake. Lake Manyara itself runs along the base of the high Rift Valley escarpment, presenting a glorious backdrop to the end of our journey.

A spectacular UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Ngorongoro Crater is one of the world’s most breathtaking natural wonders. Set within a giant volcanic caldera, this remarkable reserve is home to almost every species of animal in Africa, including the ‘Big 5’.

Covering some 260 square kilometres, this vast game reserve can boast huge herds of zebra, wildebeest and antelope, as well as healthy populations of black rhino, cheetah, African wild dog and one of the largest concentrations of lions on the African continent.
